THE OUTSIDERS

For my performance task I decided to follow the theme of social media and what goes on behind the images. So many people now a days have some kind of social media account and strictly post the best parts of their life, it's very easy to see someones profile and think that they have a perfect life and always look amazing and always eat so healthy and they workout, etc etc... but in reality the same exact person who you think is so perfect and has an amazing life could be struggling with their own issues and demons. For this assignment I tried to capture what really goes on behind the scenes of an image. The first photo on the left is one of me before taking the photo on the right. My hair is not done, I am wearing no makeup and am not dressed yet. I would say this is more so what I look like most of the time when I'm at home and alone. However most people probably know the version of myself on the right rather than on the left, this is because I normally would be wearing makeup in the pictures that I take of myself. In the left photo you can see that I am wearing a full face of makeup, wearing a nice top and my hair is all done. I've also added an instagram border to show the fact that this is a "post-able" photo. Although I don't really mind having my instagram being perfect and I don't normally put a ton of thought into things that I post I still tend to post to photos of myself where I look more put together rather than photos where I am just 100% truly myself which isn't very real because most of the time I don't even look like that, but to a random person viewing my profile they would probably assume that I am always made up 24/7.
